Meditation: How To Do It & Why You Should

Date and Location: To Be Announced

  • Have you wanted to start meditating but don't know where to begin?

  • Or have you attempted to meditate but aren't sure if you're doing it "right?"

  • Or have you been told you should meditate because it's "good for you," but don't really know what it is?

Don't worry, I've been there and it’s why I wanted to create this workshop.

You’ll learn the following:

  • What meditation is and the different styles of meditation

  • The benefits of meditation (both the scientific and not so scientific benefits)

  • And most importantly, how to do it!

This workshop will be highly experiential. I'll share with you my story of how meditation pulled me out of a deep depression and the different ways in which I practice today.

From meditating in silence or with music or mantras, we'll explore the many ways in which you can meditate and find the one that suits you best.

You’ll also receive a hand out that’ll not only include a summary of what meditation is, its benefits, and how to do it, but will also include a helpful list of meditation resources, from apps to download, music/mantras to listen to, to where to find the best candles/sage, etc.

Please note I am not a meditation instructor or practitioner. I am simply sharing with you what I have learned.

What To Expect:

  • 6:30-7:00pm: Half an hour arrival window for socializing and connection.

  • 7:00pm: The workshop begins.

PLEASE NOTE: If you arrive after 7:00pm, you cannot attend the workshop.

It is extremely important that once the workshop begins we do not break the concentration, focus and presence of the group.

  • 7:00-9:30pm: The workshop.

  • 9:30-9:45pm: Socializing and decompressing post workshop. Feel free to hang out after and connect with those you experienced the workshop with or ask me any questions.

  • 9:45pm: Departure. We need to be packed up and out of the space by 9:45pm.

What To Bring/Wear:

Please dress comfortably. Wear something you feel cozy and can move around in. Please bring a yoga mat (if you have one) and a journal if you'd like to take notes.

Is jealousy learned or is jealousy a natural emotion?

Either way, we all have felt feelings of jealousy, and not just in romantic relationships.

Jealousy is one of the most powerful emotions in existence and there are countless songs, plays, books and movies based on the subject of jealousy.

Violent crimes provoked by jealousy are committed every day.

It's high time we examined this particular emotion and the role it plays in our life.

Join me and my brother, Brent Hruska, for an evening of exploration on the topic of jealousy, its roots, and ultimately how to deal with it.

What To Expect:

  • 6:30-7:00pm: Half an hour arrival window for socializing and connection. Ceremonial cacao will be served.

The cacao is 100% organic, non GMO and harvested and farmed traditionally in Guatemala. Cacao has been used by the Mayans for thousands of years as a tool for ceremonies and rituals.

Cacao is a heart opener and the benefits of cacao may help to: prevent premature aging, balance horomal mood swings, lower your blood pressure, prevent sunburns, fight tooth decay, reset metabolism and more.

Raw cacao contains nearly four times the antioxidant content of regular processed dark chocolate, 20 times more than blueberries, and 119 times more than bananas.

It is my experience and belief that drinking cacao as a group facilitates authentic sharing and connection.

  • 7:00pm: The workshop begins.

PLEASE NOTE: If you arrive after 7:00pm, you cannot attend the workshop.

Why?

It is extremely important that once the workshop begins we do not break the concentration, focus and presence of the group.

The myths we are told and accept about health and healing, often without question, have a powerful effect on the way we interpret our symptoms, the way we heal and the quality of life we experience in the process.

Our stories can create the magic of healing or they can stop the magic completely. Let's examine some of these myths and how we can reclaim our power to heal.

“Who am I?”

Jordan and Antonella provide the powerful tools of inspired intention and set you off on a journey towards inner transformation.

Explore how you can reconnect and rekindle your forgotten dreams.

  • About Tapping Into Turn-On with Alli Kinnear

Living an embodied life is one thing, but tapping into our turn-on is another! We may dream big, but our lives are out-of-sync with that dream.

Identifying the drains, creating a Self-Care First Aid Kit and following your inner GPS to what turns you on can lead you toward radiance in your life.

  • About Creating Flow with Denise Frakes:

Experience the power of shifting your emotions through movement through this interactive talk.

“There are times when your joy produces a smile. There are also times when a smile causes relaxation, calm and joy. I do not wait until there is joy in me to smile; joy will come later.”

-Thich Nhat Hahn

Discover three moves that can shift your emotions and hormones.

  • About How to Know with Timo Way:

Can you ever know in the story of “I don’t know?”

I was spinning in my head to the point of spinning the globe. I thought that the backpacker life and exotic locations would fulfill me. It didn’t.

I thought that having the highest paying job and the most beautiful partner would fulfill me. It didn’t.

All spin and no win.

I thought I had it figured out and then I’d realize I didn’t know. That is how I started to know.

  • About What To Do When Shit Happens with Lauren Hruska

What do you do when shit hits the fan?

In life there’s an almost guaranteed amount of stress and strife. When life gets you down, how do you pick yourself back up?

Special Note From Lauren:

I had a vision of Synergy back in the summer of 2014. I was working I job I hated and wondering why everyone around me (including myself) had forgotten about their dreams and was just so damn unhappy.

All of sudden I saw an image of a group of people gathered together to discuss their goals and dreams. It would be a personal growth and development group. A community, a tribe, a family that supported and uplifted one another. I realized the three common ingredients to achieving a goal:

  1. A deadline.

  2. Accountability.

  3. The support of others.

What if I could create something that could foster those ingredients?

That's precisely when Synergy was born. I thought no one would be interested in joining a group like that so I kept my idea to myself for many months until I launched the group in January 2015.

When Synergy first launched it was only supposed to be about setting individual goals in a group setting, but my brother, Brent Hruska (also a life coach, ha!) encouraged me to deliver a recent blog post as a speech to kick off the group.

So I did. I delivered a speech with the message of the importance of believing in yourself as absolutely paramount to achieving anything. From that month on and every month after I gave a talk based on a prominent theme in my life. So, after giving more than 15 talks the past two and a quarter years I figured I could share some of them with the public, and thus Synergy Talks! was born.

Thank you for saying "yes," to opening your mind and experiencing a shift.

About Synergy:

Synergy is a collection of goal setting individuals.

Through the positive and encouraging community fostered by Synergy, group members are inspired to achieve their goals, no matter how big or small.

Synergy functions as a support system, a motivating network, and a loving family.

What is Synergy's purpose?

1. To ignite within us a renewed enthusiasm for life.

2. To experience inspired transformation.

3. To foster positive momentum in our lives and the lives of others.

The five tenants of Synergy

1. We only speak positively toward and about others.

2. We support each other.

3. We uplift each other.

4. We inspire each other.

5. We believe in one another and most importantly ourselves.

Cheers,

Lauren Hruska
